Although Lisbon as such is not situated on the Atlantic coast, but at the mouth of the Tagus River, there are fantastic beaches just a few kilometres away. From the huge beaches of the Costa de Caparica, south of the river, to the popular beach of Carcavelos, one of the most famous beaches in Portugal.
Queluz, a dormitory town located very close to Lisbon, is home to the National Palace, Portugal's version of Versailles. One of the closest and most common excursions for visitors to Lisbon and Miraflores.
